EV1 - Driving it the final week before the crusher.

STRIKING RESCUE (2024) Trailer | Tony Jaa | Martial Arts Action Thriller

Like Dom, he takes revenge for his family's deaths. His black car (not a pickup that he steals from his enemy) is not Dodge, but it is...

Hint: car from an automaker company rumored to buy Dodge. More hint: It looks like the first PHEV on-sale ever.

Maybe not identifiable in the theaters due to very quick motions, but when watching in computers, we can pauses.

In this movie, the car is so safe, maybe much safer than in the reality.

AFAIK, Jaa in real life likes Lamborghini, Maserati, etc. But the film(s) can make he drives very ordinary cars.

Striking Rescue (2024) trailer starring Tony Jaa

I think the problem is Jaa can't/doesn't speak Chinese but other actors speak Chinese. Despite talking different languages, Jaa in movie can talking (his English speaks) with other characters and can understand them (their Chinese speaks). The dub will fix that. The original movie doesn't dub.

Ha, I think I know what is this, destroyed in movie.

Below is a picture from https://bestsellingcarsblog.com/2010/01/china-2009-byd-f3-crowned-excelle-elantra-yuedong-follow/ and HORIZONtal flip.

Edit:  The car is not much visible in the full movie, but enough to identify (on computer/phone because pausable), especially B*D fans!

Flipped image:

Ah shit here we go again.

It is made at the past time, when B*D was a copycat company. This model looks like a Toyota Corolla, but Honda City kind of rear lights.

BYD is not a movie superstar (of car brand) like Dodge or Audi.

Still very rare to see a very main character drives a BYD in a movie! And even more rare for non product placements like this.

This is a notable event for a BYD fan likes me. A Chinese movie really has Tony Jaa plays the main protagonist, put Tony Jaa in a BYD and also makes Tony Jaa sit behind steering wheel, drive a BYD in a movie! It is not products placement at all, because the car is not very visible, old model, and has the crash scene.

The crash scene seems to be much safer than in the reality. In this movie, the family characters are not much injured by the crash. A scene like this can be sponsor by a car brand to use a new car to show and promote the car's safety, but it didn't.

I think this movie is not just Ongbak and Tomyumgoong vibes, there are still some Fast and Furious vibes, such as "he takes revenge for his family's deaths", he has some significant driving scenes (usually, he didn't), and he looks like a villain (Kiet in Furious 7) despite he is protagonist.

I think BYD didn't win the car war at all. Toyota is still the god of cars. --h0ngcom.

However, CleanTechnica seems to be a pro-BYD media to me.

In 2024 China car sale numbers, CleanTechnica use the combined number of the sale numbers of Song Plus and Song Pro, made Song sales number better than Tesla Model Y. https://cleantechnica.com/2025/01/27/25-of-new-car-sales-in-china-were-100-electric-in-2024/

Song Plus 418474
Song Pro 241598

Song 660072

It is clearly that 418474+241598=660072.
